Canterbury Branch

The Templin Scroll Competition. J R Templin, a prominent consultant electrical engineer, was the first Chairman of the Canterbury Branch of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers (now IPENZ). Throughout his career he took a keen interest in the Engineering Society (now ENSOC). In 1941 he donated the Templin Scroll Award to the society and followed this with a further donation of the Templin Prize in 1945. His awards were made with the intention of encouraging engineers in the art of presenting their subject to others. The competition is open to any student taking a regular course of study at the University of Canterbury College of Engineering who is a financial member of the Engineering Society. The Templin Scroll is awarded for the best written and presented paper. The award consists of the Scroll, to be engraved with the name of the winner, and a sum of money. The Templin Prize is awarded for the best written technical paper. The award consists of a sum of money.

The IPENZ Prize at the Canterbury-Westland Schools Science Fair, awarded for the Best Application of Technology.  The award consists of a sum of money.

Maintenance Engineering Society of New Zealand

University of Waikato IPENZ Waikato/BOP Branch Design Award

The design of innovative, useful, safe and resource-efficient artefacts is a key role that distinguishes engineering from other professions. The final engineering design project is therefore, in many ways, the culmination and synthesis of much that an engineering student has learned during their course of study. The Waikato/Bay of Plenty Branch of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) wishes to recognise excellence in engineering design among students completing their final year of study at the University of Waikato by presenting an award to the student design project that best represents the qualities of professional engineering design.

For more information on this award please contact Alice.Baucke@fonterra.com
