Transportation Group Established in 1971, the group has the object of the "advancement of the art, science and practice of road traffic and transportation engineering and the provision of a focal point for those working in the profession". This recognises the group's role both in the technical areas and in providing opportunities for interaction of a more social nature. The group operates both at the national level and through its branches around the country. At the national level the group jointly runs the Traffic Management Workshop, has its own stream at the National Conference, arranges visits of overseas experts, and produces submissions on transportation issues of national interest. The branches hold regular meetings with both local and out-of-town speakers and make submissions on local concerns. A newsletter - Roundabout - is produced on a quarterly basis for all members with a mixture of technical and news content.
